Dragon Ball Fans Rejoice: Creed 3’s Punches Will Be Goku-Level Epic
Michael B. Jordan (Creed III) reveals the inspiration for the latest Rocky film, the Rocky Film Series.
Michael B. Jordan was the star actor and director for Creed III.
Otaku USA stated that Jordan discussed the anime influence of Creed III at IGN Fan Fest. “I don’t want to nerd out too much. You’ve seen so many fights in the Rocky and Creed franchise. I wanted my spin, you know? Jordan said. Jordan replied. It’s very close to the brotherhood, bond,, and relationships that Damian Anderson has with Adonis Creed. I tried my best to highlight some of those moments.
Creed III Features a Dragon Ball Z-Style Punch
Jordan pointed out that Dragon Ball Zas a major anime influence in Creed III. Particularly, a Dragon Ball Z punches during the fight between Jordan’s character and Jonathan Majors’ Damian Anderson. Although no specific move was mentioned in the Dragon Ball series of punches, Goku, the original series protagonist has been behind some memorable punches such as a blow to Vegeta while in Kaioken x3 or smashing Jiren after he attacked Goku and his friends in Dragon Ball Super.
Jordan has spoken out about his love for anime and manga, as well as how it influenced the creation of Creed II. Jordan had previously talked about how various scenes from the movie were inspired by Hajime no Ippo.
CreedIII sees Adonis Creed face his old friend Damian Anderson in a match that is winner-takes-all. This drama is the ninth entry of the Rocky Franchise and marks the first one without original star Sylvester Stallone. The actor played Rocky Balboa but he was forced to retire due to the dark turn Jordon Winkler (producer) decided to take. Tessa Thompson plays Bianca, Florian Munteanu plays Viktor Drago and Mary Anne Creed is played by Phylicia Rashad.
Creed III opening in North America will be on March 3.
